Jeff Weaver

Hi, my name is Jeff.  I am a Master Corporal with the Delaware State Police.  I have a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Temple University and I have been in law enforcement for over 28 years, including 3 years military police, 3 years municipal police and 22 years with the Delaware State Police.  Currently I am assigned with the Delaware State Police Troop 2 ,Collision Reconstruction Unit (C.R.U.), in Newark Delaware.

My primary responsibilities are to investigate serious injury motor vehicle collisions, fatal motor vehicle collisions and departmental collisions that occur on state roadways in New Castle County.  I am a certified instructor for the state police training academy, Chairman of the Board for the Delaware State Police Federal Credit Union, Chairman of the Board for the Delaware State Police Death Benefits Association, a team member for the Delaware State Police Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team and the Lay Leader for Cedars United Methodist Church, in Wilmington.  I also help coordinate and participate in providing law enforcement programs that go into schools, businesses and churches.

I am a retired Sergeant Major with thirty years of service in the United States Army and Army Reserve.  I entered the military after graduating high school and became involved in law enforcement because I wanted to be able to help and serve others.  Both my military and civilian careers have been extremely blessed with wonderful public service experiences.

Music and playing the guitar have always been a major love in my life.  I began playing guitar when I was nine years old and played in my first rock group when I was in the fifth grade.  I have played in numerous bands over the years, ranging in variations of music styles.  I was asked to join the First State Force in January 2007 and have enjoyed playing lead guitar with the band since then.  I primarily play a Fender Stratocaster for the majority of the newer rock songs and sometimes use a Gibson ES-335TD to get the “oldie sound” on some of the older classic rock “n” roll songs.  The band program promotes positive decision making, self-awareness, self-esteem and self-confidence by saying “NO” to peer pressure, violence, drugs and alcohol.  It is a humbling honor, privilege and pleasure to be associated with this program and to work closely with the many talented musicians and singers that are members of the band.
